Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: April 2, 2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and GreenRoots Foundation ("we," "our," or "us"), a registered non-governmental organisation (Registration No: RS/DAR/247/RFS-202600688), headquartered in Mangaldai, Darrang, Assam, India. These Terms govern your access to and use of our website (https://greenrootsindia.org), mobile applications, digital platforms, agricultural technology services, marketplace, digital wallet, AI chatbot (GreenBot), and all related services (collectively, the "Platform"). By accessing, browsing, registering on, or using the Platform in any manner, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately discontinue all use of the Platform.
1. Eligibility
To use the Platform, you must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and possess the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements under applicable Indian law. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements. If you are registering on behalf of a farmer cooperative, self-help group, or other organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind such entity to these Terms.
2. Account Registration and Security
You may create an account on the Platform using one of the following authentication methods: (a) Google OAuth authentication, which links your Google account to your GreenRoots profile; (b) Admin email and password authentication for authorised administrative users; or (c) Email OTP (One-Time Password) verification, which sends a time-limited verification code to your registered email address. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, including passwords and OTP codes. You agree to immediately notify us of any unauthorised use of your account or any other security breach. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that we reasonably believe has been compromised or is being used in violation of these Terms.
3. User Roles and Responsibilities
The Platform operates with a hierarchical Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) system comprising eight distinct roles: Super Admin, State Head, District Head, Block Coordinator, Panchayat Coordinator, Village Worker, Farmer, and Investor. Each role carries specific privileges, responsibilities, and access levels within the Platform. Users are assigned roles during registration or by authorised administrators and must operate within the scope of their assigned role. Misuse of role privileges, including attempting to access data or features beyond your authorised level, constitutes a violation of these Terms and may result in immediate account suspension or termination.
4. Acceptable Use
When using the Platform, you agree to the following:
- You will provide accurate, truthful, and complete information during registration and in all interactions with the Platform, including crop data, field visit reports, and marketplace listings.
- You will not use the Platform for any unlawful, fraudulent, or malicious purpose, including but not limited to identity theft, financial fraud, data manipulation, or harassment of other users.
- You will not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform, other user accounts, or our computer systems and networks through hacking, password mining, brute force attacks, or any other means.
- You will not interfere with or disrupt the integrity, performance, or availability of the Platform, including through the introduction of viruses, malware, denial-of-service attacks, or other harmful technologies.
- You will not scrape, crawl, or use automated means to extract data from the Platform without our express written permission.
- You will not create multiple accounts for fraudulent purposes or impersonate any person or entity.
- You will not list counterfeit, illegal, prohibited, or misrepresented products on the marketplace.
5. Marketplace
The Platform provides a digital marketplace where farmers can list agricultural products for sale and buyers can browse and purchase these products. GreenRoots Foundation acts solely as a platform facilitator and is not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers. We do not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or accuracy of any product listing. Sellers are solely responsible for ensuring that their listed products comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and quality standards. Buyers are advised to exercise due diligence before completing any purchase. Prices listed on the marketplace are set by individual sellers and may be subject to change without notice. All disputes between buyers and sellers must be resolved between the parties directly, though we may assist in mediation upon request.
6. Digital Wallet and Payments
The Platform includes a digital wallet feature that allows users to track financial transactions, receive payments for marketplace sales, and manage their balances. All payment processing is handled through Razorpay, a third-party payment gateway, and is subject to Razorpay's own terms of service and privacy policy. We do not store complete credit card or debit card numbers on our servers. Transaction processing times may vary depending on the payment method and banking institutions involved. Users are responsible for ensuring that their payment information is accurate and up to date.
7. GreenBot AI Chatbot
The Platform includes GreenBot, an AI-powered agricultural assistant that provides farmers with information about crop management, weather conditions, market prices, and Platform usage. GreenBot is powered by third-party AI technology (Groq with Llama models) and provides responses based on general agricultural knowledge and Platform-specific information. While we strive to ensure the accuracy and usefulness of GreenBot's responses, the information provided should not be considered as professional agricultural, legal, financial, or medical advice. Users should consult qualified professionals before making important decisions based on GreenBot's recommendations. GreenBot's responses are subject to rate limiting (20 requests per minute per user) to ensure fair usage for all users.
8. Intellectual Property
All content, materials, features, functionality, and technology on the Platform, including but not limited to the website design, layout, user interface, graphics, logos, trademarks (including the GreenRoots name and logo), text, images, software code, algorithms, databases, and compilation thereof, are the exclusive property of GreenRoots Foundation or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws including copyright, trademark, and trade secret laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, store, or transmit any material from the Platform without our prior written consent, except for your personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE PLATFORM AND ALL SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GREENROOTS FOUNDATION DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE FROM VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. AGRICULTURAL ADVICE, WEATHER INFORMATION, AND MARKET DATA PROVIDED THROUGH THE PLATFORM ARE FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY AND SHOULD NOT BE RELIED UPON AS THE SOLE BASIS FOR FARMING, FINANCIAL, OR BUSINESS DECISIONS.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE PLATFORM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO US, IF ANY, IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless GreenRoots Foundation, its directors, officers, employees, affiliates, agents, and volunteers from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Platform; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights; (d) any content you submit, post, or transmit through the Platform; or (e) any fraudulent or illegal activity conducted through your account.
12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation between the parties. If the dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation within thirty (30) days, it shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration administered in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, as amended. The seat of arbitration shall be Guwahati, Assam, India. The language of arbitration shall be English.
